Banyan with Steve Perkins, Mike Watt, Nels Cline, and Willie Walden, plus Herman Green on sax and Leo from Russia on Clarinet, and Norton Wisdom on paint.
Recorded with 3 PZM mics surrounding the drums, one SM-57 on Nels (guitar) and 2 SM-57 for the horns section. Last time, I only setup one mic for the horns section and they needed two. So tonight, I setup two mics but Willie brings in Herman Green and Leo and suddenly they need four mics! (Willie uses one for dry and one for effects, and since he switches which mic he's playing in to, I have to "double mic" both his mics). So once again, imperfect pickup of the horns section. Watt's bass is picked up by the right drum PZM. The occasional vocal was not picked up directly (sorry).
These mics were unceremoniously wired to a Roland MX5 battery-powered mixer and recorded on a Sony D8 DAT recorder (which still works... great!!) Then transferred to computer via Waveterminal9624, and converted to a 192Kbps MP3.
Sorry about the MP3 format, but this show does not split well into discs. The first section is slightly longer than 80 mins unless you cut the "warmup," and then you end up with a short second section on disc two.
I have enclosed an "imaginary" CDRWIN cue file, which shows exactly where the cue points fall, AND the names of all the songs!... but this cue file is imaginary for a CD that's more than 90 mins long.
Recommended listening mode: STEREO
This recording does not sound good in surround!
Enjoy!
